In response to my quoting Jesus about slaughtering his enemies, a Sister writes to say the quote appears out of context and is not the point of the parable in Luke 19. Actually, it is the point--the summation of the parable, the last two verses of which change from the "he" of the parable to the "I" of Jesus speaking (vv. 26-27). Argue that if you will, but what about all the commandments Jesus broke, about seven, isn’t it? Following the parable, Jesus tells his disciples to get a colt for him to ride into Jerusalem. And if the owner objects? Just say "The Lord hath need of him." Now that's a good excuse for stealing! Sounds like a typical cult leader to me.
