● The lowdown: Torres has emerged as the Blue Devils' top wrestler by putting together another sensational season. He has a record of 33-2, with eyes set on winning a second straight state title. Other accomplishments this season include winning titles for a second straight year at the Flowing Wells and Peoria invitationals. Plus, he was 8-0 at the Mountain View Invitational.
● Greco-Roman versus college wrestling: Torres can wrestle both styles. "Greco is a more relaxed style and involves throws, turns and upper body strength." He said college wrestling involves more footwork.
● Pressure as a Blue Devil: Torres said there are no real added pressures to live up as a Sunnyside wrestler. The pressure he faces, he said, is leading by example for his younger teammates.

● Pre-match preparation: Torres said he prepares for a match by visualizing every move, then thinking of a counter move. "If I think of one move, I'm thinking of two other moves right behind it," Torres said.
● What you talkin' 'bout, Torres? He said his favorite television show is "Diff'rent Strokes." Torres said he got into the show by watching Nick at Nite and has been hooked ever since.
● Favorite movie: "Wedding Crashers"
● Winning state: Torres said there is an added pressure to win another state title this season. "This whole year, people are telling us you're Sunnyside, you can wrestle through it. But it is not like every year is a new year. So yeah, there is an added pressure to win state," he said.
● The influence to wrestle: Torres said he was always told he was too short to participate in any other sports. Sunnyside assistant coach Mike Bravo opened the doors for Torres to pursue wrestling.
● Favorite class: When Torres is not practicing his falls or competing on the mat, he is a teacher's assistant.
● Aspirations after high school: Torres said he plans to attend the Olympic Training Center in Marquette, Mich. It is an academic school where he can pursue further training in Greco-Roman wrestling.
● Favorite wrestling moment: Torres said his fondest memory was winning the Cadet Nationals in Fargo, N.D., during the summer of 2004. He won the 125-pound weight class wrestling Greco-Roman. Having his mother and coaches Bravo and Bobby DeBerry to cheer him on, he said, made the event special.
● Toughest match: Torres said he does not know what his toughest match was, but says wearing the blue and silver of Sunnyside always earns him a tough match.
