Pima Animal Care Center has opened a new adoption-only facility on Tucson’s east side, relocating dozens of dogs and cats from its main shelter to help increase adoptions and reduce overcrowding. The new center, funded by Friends of PACC, is designed to make pet adoption more accessible for residents in eastern Pima County.
University of Arizona’s budget update for fiscal year 2027 includes a projected slight decrease in student tuition revenue, state funding and all other forms of revenue, and a slight increase in grants and contracts. Baby quail season has begun in Arizona, bringing hundreds of orphaned chicks to the Tucson Wildlife Center for care and rehabilitation. Wildlife officials say warmer spring temperatures caused the birds to hatch earlier than usual this year, prompting an early start to one of the center’s busiest rescue seasons.
