A Pima County resident accused of embezzling nearly $100,000 from a Green Valley home furnishings business has been indicted on two theft by conversion charges.
Morton Herbert Einstein is accused of stealing in excess of $25,000 from New West Design Interiors, 250 W. Continental Road, between June 2008 and September 2008, according to an indictment issued in Pima County Superior Court.
Last month, the owner of the business and her attorney told deputies that Einstein was left in charge of her business while she was out of the country last year, said Deputy Dawn Barkman of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
The owner provided documentation indicating Einstein took checks written to the business and totaling more than $94,000 and cashed them in a personal account, Barkman said. Einstein was arrested May 20.
