A fight between Mexican American and Mexican prisoners has left at least 20 inmates injured at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Tucson, officials said.
The fight broke out at about 6 p.m. at the prison's Santa Rita Tent Unit, according to a press release issued by the Arizona Department of Corrections.
The press release indicates the inmates used weapons during the assault but does not specify what types of weapons were used or the nature of the injuries sustained by the inmates.
Two of the injured were transported from the scene for treatment while others were being treated at the scene.
No Department of Correction staff were injured during the effort to quell the fight.
The Tucson prison complex will be locked down until further notice, according to the press release. Visitation at the Arizona State Prison Complex on Wilmot has been cancelled.
