PHOENIX — Officials say a Maricopa County Sheriff's Office detention officer is jailed on a first-degree murder charge after his wife was found dead in their Phoenix home.
Court records show 56-year-old Jeffrey Hamlet's son went to his parents home late Wednesday and found his father injured and his mother dead. Arriving police had to use Tasers to stop Hamlet from stabbing himself.
Police found 53-year-old Katherine Hamlet's body wrapped in a tarp in a bedroom.
The sheriff's office issued a statement calling the case a very sad and tragic incident.
Hamlet is being held on a $200,000 cash bond.
