A Lowe’s hardware store on the Northwest Side reopened this afternoon, a day after it had to be evacuated because of roof problems.
Lowe’s, 4075 W. Ina Road, reopened at 2:40 p.m., after passing city inspections, company spokeswoman Karen Cobb said in an e-mail and phone message.
The store was evacuated Wednesday morning, after about 100-by-100 feet of the roof sagged, primarily in a receiving area.
Northwest Fire/Rescue District spokeswoman Katy Heiden said Wednesday that contractors had been working on the roof when a water line was broken.
The beams dropped a couple of feet but not to the ground, she said.
