Tucson Citizen photographer Preston Yeager took a drive to Nogales, Sonora, in July 1956. He took the only route available, U.S. 89, or the Old Nogales Highway. It was a sparsely-populated, poorly-lit, lonely two-lane road. Why did he make the trek? Well, we’re not really sure. But you can go to tucson.com/retrotucson to view pictures of his journey.
