Anne Stradling loved horses. In fact, at her Patagonia-area ranch, she had 40 of them. In 1960, to honor her favorite creature, she founded The Museum of the Horse. Within the collection were all kinds of horse memorabilia, such as this horse-drawn sleigh complete with mannequin. It was photographed on July 13, 1984. The museum also included many family treasures, Indian relics and Southwestern art. When Stradling died in 1992, the collection was valued at more than $4 million and was donated to the Hubbard Museum in Ruidoso, N.M.
