A family of four was displaced after a fire destroyed their Midvale Park home Thursday afternoon.
Three of the residents were in the home in the 1600 block of West Thorne Street, near South Midvale Park and West Drexel roads, and called 911 to report a fire in one of the bedrooms shortly before 1 p.m., said Capt. Trish Tracy, a Tucson fire spokeswoman.
Neighbors also called 911 to report smoke coming from the windows of the house, she said.
Crews found the family and their dog outside when they arrived just after 1 p.m., Tracy said.
The fire was put out at 1:19 p.m., and damage is estimated at $100,000, she said. The family's kitten was found dead inside the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
