Why are you running? I have spent the last 24 years serving the citizens of my community to help improve their quality of life. I believe a constable needs to provide a full-time service to the taxpayers as opposed to a part-time burden. I will assure the timely service of criminal- and civil-court actions and treat everyone with dignity and respect. It is time we have someone who is capable of enforcing the court orders directed to them to protect the quality of life you deserve. As your constable, I will serve the citizens of our community every day with the same commitment and protection I provided for the last 24 years.
What unique qualities do you have that will help you, if elected? I have over 24 years of law-enforcement experience, starting in 1981 when I joined the Air Force. I understand the legal system, in particular the judicial system, and how it works. I understand the importance of getting the job done effectively and efficiently, and realize lives and businesses depend on the constable providing timely and effective service. For example, constables serve protection/harassment orders to protect the safety of families and/or property, and also eviction notices involving the removal of persons or property from a residence, which I have an in-depth knowledge of. Quite simply, bad things happen to good people, and it is important to understand our community and how to assist individuals in desperate times. My profession provided me this unique experience to appreciate the importance a piece a paper makes in someone's life on both sides of the issue.
During my career with the Tucson Police Department, I supervised the Elder Abuse Task Force and the Arson/Gun Task Force. I worked as an undercover agent in MANTIS and the STAR Unit and a patrol officer on Tucson's South Side. I worked with the Pima County Sheriff's Department, A.T.F., Attorney General's Office, Pima County Attorney's Office and other law-enforcement agencies to coordinate resources and develop strategies to fight narcotics, violent gun crime, and elder abuse and neglect. I conducted training for local and state law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders on the signs to look for with possible elder abuse. All this experience makes me uniquely qualified for this position and the best candidate for constable.
What changes, if any, would you like to see implemented once elected? I will improve the coordination and communication between the constable's office and law-enforcement agencies in our community to ensure court orders are served to protect our citizens. I will improve the working relationship with the constable's office and justice court system in the service of civil and criminal actions to protect the rights of citizens in our community. I will ensure all orders, injunctions and arrests are served promptly and inputted into databases the information necessary to protect the families of our community is readily available. I will be your full-time constable.
