A couple months ago, I was enjoying a networking breakfast for the Northern Pima County Chamber of Commerce when I learned a lesson - although it had little to do with business, at least not directly.
That morning I had an interesting exchange with Judi Butcher of M&I Bank. If you ever get a chance to chat with Judi, be sure to listen.
Having worked with Judi for more than three years as she volunteered for the Healthiest Town in America initiative, I have grown to fully appreciate her business acumen. That particular morning, Judi could sense I was pensive and gently prodded me to finally admit, "Wow, Judi, turning 59 sure can change a person. I mean, 60 is just around the corner."
Without missing a beat, she beamed a huge smile thinking about my perceived problem. With impish delight in her eyes, her spoken words energized me: "Empowering, isn't it?"

I thought about that conversation this past Friday. That day has significance in that it is really No. 32 to Deb and me. You see, we were married on Father's Day in 1979 - 32 years ago.
How quickly the time has passed. With the arrival of our children, life seemed to go into hyper speed.
Now we seem to have fast-forwarded 25 years post-childbirth; our 32nd wedding anniversary has taken us to a new place in our relationship.
With the confidence of having raised our children, we find the time to appreciate enjoying this very special time in life. Yes, indeed, Deb and I do something "special" on our anniversary. However, with many years of wisdom from raising children, I fully appreciate our time just being together and being able to finish one another's sentences.
Feeling empowered to just enjoy the fact that we made it to this milestone is another reason to rejoice and bask in the positive energy for a while.
Wow! Celebrating life's milestones sure makes us look forward to working toward a long and healthy life.
Enjoy the journey,
Bob
