PHOENIX — Five law enforcement officers trying to stop a man from jumping off a freeway overpass were hurt when they fell off the bridge onto a semi-truck officials had parked on the highway.
The late morning incident on busy Interstate 10 through central Phoenix left one officer with a broken arm. Lt. James Warriner with the Arizona Department of Public Safety says the man they were trying to save also fell. The man was not badly hurt.
The other four officers had minor injuries. Two were state police officers and three were Phoenix police.
Warriner says the westbound lanes of I-10 were closed for nearly an hour but have now reopened.
