About 35,000 Tucson Electric Power customers are without electricity in a storm-related outage that began about 8:20 p.m.
TEP spokesman Joe Salkowski said crews are working on the problem, which appears to be related to lightning activity near a Northeast Side substation.
The outage is affecting mostly customers in the Northeast and Midtown areas. Most of the outages were caused by high winds or lightning. A TEP substation on the Northeast Side was struck by lightning, Salkowski said, causing an outage.
