YUMA — A U.S. Marine from Texas has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a Yuma, Ariz. woman in her apartment.
Pvt. Joseph Andrew Mandel is accused of shooting 27-year-old Kezia Clinkscales on Friday evening. He was jailed after being questioned by police and the charge was filed on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old native of Sugar Land is a vehicle mechanic stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma.
Mandel is being held in Yuma County jail on $147,000 bond. His attorney had asked that bail be lowered from $200,000 at his initial court appearance on Saturday, arguing that he would be confined to base if released.
Details of what led up to the shooting haven’t been released.
