When I became a surgical assistant, I had to learn a surgical scrub which means scrubbing my hands and fingernails with soap and a brush for 10 minutes. It also meant keeping my fingernails very short.
I hesitate to think of the creepy crawlers thriving under those L-O-N-G nails of food preparers.
