Tours catch the magic behind the scenes at Monsoon Chocolate
- Updated
Attending Monsoon Chocolate's factory tour fulfilled a dream I've held since I was a child, poring over the Roald Dahl Treasury. I wanted nothing more than to experience the wild, whizz-bang magic the author captured in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." When I learned about corporate factory tours in Hershey, Pennsylvania, attached to a water park, I was disappointed: where was the sense of wonder?
At Monsoon Chocolate, there aren't any high-octane gimmicks or fantastical research and development. Yet the sense of wonder is not lost, only reimagined. Tethered to the simple amazements of the cacao fruit, the plant's sole pollinator, and the farmers who harvest, ferment and dry the beans, you access a grown-up kind of magic.
