Smithers—Bulldog mix
Age: 3 years.
Qualities: Rescued from Pima Animal Care Center in late October, he had kennel cough, an adverse reaction to his neuter causing an infection, and open skin wounds on his rear legs. Despite all the pain he must have been in, Smithers proved to be one loving guy! He has fully recovered from the kennel cough and neuter infection and his leg wounds have improved drastically. He currently lives with four young kids and plays in their plastic ball pit and snuggles up to everyone. Smithers is housebroken and crate trained, although his current foster no longer crates him when they are away from the home because he usually just sleeps on his dog bed.
Needs: Smithers suffers from some serious genetic and Bulldog prevalent “bowing” of his front legs. The bowing causes him occasional pain and discomfort which is managed with as needed pain meds. He is currently on antifungal medication with labs requiring rechecking in February. Due to the severity of the infection, it is possible that additional medication will be required and likely pain management for life for the leg bowing. He still enjoys a short, slow-paced walk around the neighborhood or a brief play session with his submissive and mellow female doggy friend. Smithers would do best as an only dog. Smithers also should not go to a home with cats or small animals (ferrets, birds, bunnies, etc).
His adoption fee is $125.
