Sales tax rates in Southern Arizona
- Arizona Daily Star
It's not so much where you live, but where you shop. Here's how the sales tax varies in different cities and towns in Southern Arizona. Some zip codes within a municipality may have a different sales tax. This is just a guide.
If you need to buy a big-ticket item — say, a new refrigerator — you could save some money by buying where the sales tax is lower. A $1,500 refrigerator purchased in Marana, where the sales tax is 8.6 percent, would have $129 tacked on the price. In unincorporated Pima County, where the sales tax is 6.1 percent, that would only be $91.50. Would you drive an extra mile or two for $37.50?
To calculate the sales tax on an item, multiply the price by the tax rate and divide that result by 100. Your final number is the sales tax that should be added on to the purchase price of the item you are purchasing.
Cities and towns that aren't listed have no additional sales tax beyond the state and county taxes.
