The Aspen Fire in 2003 (Time Machine newsletter copy)
When all was said and done, the Aspen Fire had destroyed 314 of 467 homes and nine of 12 businesses. Pictured in this photo are firefighters Steve Hulland Jr. and his wife Samantha. Their family business, Mount Lemmon Cabins & Cookies, went up in flames. The business was later rebuilt and is now known as Mt. Lemmon Cookie Cabin. Photo credit: David Sanders / Arizona Daily Star
