SIERRA VISTA — A jury in southern Arizona has convicted two men in the beating death of another man.
The Cochise County jury found Israel Morales Otero and John Edward Romero guilty for the death of 43-year-old Patrick Gleason.
There was no noticeable reaction as jurors read the verdict Tuesday convicting the men on charges of first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Sheriff’s investigators said the beating death was a result of a meth deal gone wrong.
Deputy Cochise County Attorney Roger Contreras said Gleason’s body was found June 3, 2008 in an area northwest of Willcox, under a mesquite tree with his wrists and ankles tied behind his back.
A sentencing hearing was set by Judge Wallace Hoggatt for Oct. 8 at 8:30 a.m.
