FLORENCE — Authorities have released the name of a Texas woman who died while hiking on the Sunset Trail at Picacho Peak.
According to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, 29-year-old Carrie Romero of Richmond, Texas, became disorientated around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Search and Rescue crews arrived and found Romero about a half-mile from the trailhead.
Paramedics performed emergency efforts, but she was pronounced dead around 3 p.m.
Sheriff's officials say the death appears to be heat related and no foul play is suspected.
Authorities say Romero had been vacationing in the Phoenix area with her fiance.
