A 21-year-old Tucson woman was shot and killed Tuesday night when a gun belonging to her boyfriend discharged, police said.
Kandice Sue Smith and her boyfriend were leaving a home in the 1700 block of West Summer Dawn Drive, near South Midvale Park and West Valencia roads about 9:50 p.m. when she was fatally wounded, said Sgt. Diana Lopez, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman.
Smith was pronounced dead a short time later at University Medical Center, Lopez said.
Smith and her boyfriend had been at the home visiting family, Lopez said.
No arrests have been made, and homicide detectives are continuing to investigating the circumstances surrounding how the boyfriend’s gun went off, Lopez said.
