The Salvation Army Hospitality House is living up to its name and inviting the community to join in as it celebrates its 10-year anniversary with a Decade of Hope from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 at 1002 N. Main Ave.
“For a decade, The Salvation Army Tucson has been a beacon of hope for individuals and families in need at the North Main Avenue and West Speedway location,” aid Andres Espinoza, its city coordinator for Tucson. “This celebration is not just about looking back on what we’ve accomplished, but also about embracing the future with renewed commitment to serve our community, as well as awareness for the community we serve.”
The carnival-themed event, which is free and open to the public, marks 10 years of healing, hopefulness and healthy new beginnings, according to Kelli Beasley, PR & Community Engagement Manager for The Salvation Army Tucson.

The open house will feature a wide range of activities, including food, games, music and carnival-themed inflatables; tours of the Hospitality House; a meet-and-greet with Salvation Army officers; and 14 booths that showcase local Salvation Army programs and services. The interactive booths range from “Donut Day,” which features donut decorating and coffee and “Pet Shelter” to “Warming Hearts & Souls” and “Chill Out.”
“We will also have booths that showcase emergency assistance, family support such as TEP Utility Assistance, our Back to School program, a Bell Ringing booth representing our Kettle Bells and more,” Beasley said. “Our other corps will also have booths, with one from All Nations and two from the Amphi Corps. Each booth will have games or activities or both, plus gift basket give-aways that guests have a chance to win. It will be a great event and we are excited to show people more about our programs.”
Salvation Army programs assisted more than 24,000 people last year, serving more than 140,600 meals and providing more than 72,200 nights of shelter.
