Pima sheriff’s deputies reported finding human remains inside the trunk of a burned vehicle Sunday morning.
Tucson Mountain District deputies and Avra Valley Fire Department firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in a desert area near Waterman Mountain Road and Avra Valley Road around 10:30 a.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release Sunday.
Firefighters found human remains inside the trunk after opening it at the request of sheriff’s deputies. The news release did not provide any further details of the incident.
The Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide and Arson Unit took over the investigation and they are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
