What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”
Last week’s recipient: Gladys Mack.
Nominated by: Kim Hilty, registered nurse.
Why: For making patchwork quilts that are donated to the palliative care team at Banner-University Medical Center. The quilts are given to patients who are nearing the end of their lives, Hilty wrote in her nomination letter.
“What these quilts do in the patients’ rooms is beautiful. The patchwork colors light up the room and change the presentation in the room in such a positive way.” Hilty said whenever they run low on quilts,
Mack is always there with more. “Her kindness goes above and beyond,” Hilty wrote.
