Day-use and annual passes for Coronado National Forest sites will be available for purchase online with a debit or credit card beginning today.
A $1.95 “convenience fee” will be added to the $5 cost of day passes and $20 cost of annual passes. Passes may be printed from the purchaser’s home.
To purchase a pass, go to www.fs.usda.gov/coronado and follow a link on the page. Purchasers should be prepared with the license plate number of the vehicle they will be using. The number will be printed on the pass for display on the vehicle.
Forest officials said customers will be able to purchase passes using a smart phone in the near future. Availability of that option will be announced on the website.
Passes are required at Sabino Canyon northeast of Tucson, Madera Canyon south of the city and other sites on the Coronado National Forest.
