A 40-year-old man was struck and killed Wednesday night while crossing a street on Tucson's north side, police said.
The crash happened about 6:45 p.m. when Jake Angel Zabaleta was crossing in the 700 block of West Miracle Mile, between North Oracle Road North Fairview Avenue. He was not crossing in, or near, a crosswalk when he was struck, police said in a news release.
Zabaleta was struck by a westbound Buick. He died at the scene, the release said. The driver was not injured.
The investigation continues.
Zabaleta’s death marks the 25th pedestrian fatality so far this year, which is up from 20 at the same time in 2025, police said.
