Bookmans Entertainment Exchange’s summer reading program provided nearly 6,000 books to several local literacy nonprofits.
The Summer Reads program, which was held from June through Sept. 1, allowed customers to receive a free book once they completed a stamp card of nine book purchases. For every stamp card completed, Bookmans donated a book to local organizations in Tucson, Flagstaff and the Phoenix area.
In total, the program resulted in 5,899 books being donated.
Local literacy nonprofits that will receive the free books are Make Way for Books, Paws and Pages with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona and Literacy Connects in Tucson.
Bookmans also donated to literacy organizations in Flagstaff, Mesa and Phoenix.
