David Vann could really shoot a basketball. The Tucson High School player was leading the AAA-South scorers with 22.2 points a game. According to one of the opposing coaches, "he could play in the pros right now with his shooting." On Jan. 17, 1978, Vann, wearing No. 32, and his fellow Badgers faced off against the Pueblo Warriors. Although he scored 18 points in the first half, Vann was held to just 4 in the second half and Tucson lost 72-56. Vann went on to play for and graduate from St. Mary's College in California, where he set the school's career scoring record with 1,738 points.
