A 33-year-old woman from Agua Prieta, Sonora, was arrested Wednesday after trying to smuggle 270 pounds of marijuana through the Douglas port of entry, Customs and Border Protection officials said.
CBP officers selected a Ford SUV for further inspection and, with help from a drug dog, located nearly $135,000 worth of marijuana hidden under the hood and within the vehicle’s tires, the agency said in a news release.
The drugs and vehicle were seized. The woman was referred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
