Tucson speaks up: Letters to the editor for the week of Mar. 20, 2026
- Updated
Our weekly round-up of letters published in the Arizona Daily Star.

Israel began its military occupation of Palestine In 1967. They control what goes in and what comes out of West Bank and Gaza.
Hamas brutally attacked Israel to bring awareness to military control, blockade of Gaza Strip, as well as illegal settlements in the West Bank.
Israel’s retaliation has killed over 500 aid workers, and 1,500 health care workers. Every hospital in Gaza has been put out of commission by Israel. The blockades and restrictions placed on aid deliveries to Gaza have put them in a humanitarian crisis with death by starvation imminent. Israel’s and the USA’s bombs dropped on Gaza have destroyed everything. How many Palestinians are buried in that rubble?
On August 21, 2025 The Guardian published an article that revealed through Israel’s own military data indicating 83% of deaths in the Gaza War were civilians. Harvey, I wouldn’t call 17% a majority. I’m with Abraham.

Let's see if I've got this straight...we're being told by a MAGA cultist whose version of reality stems from hanging on every rant from "President" Felon, Fraud, Liar, Grifter and Con Man (whose intellectual development is that of a spoiled 14-year-old viewing war as a video game) that the rest of us are being "played" by the news media? Does his "information" come from Trump mouthpieces like Karo-lyin' Leavitt or vicious Steven Cheung? Remind me...how many decades upon decades has Iran been chanting "Death to America" (or Israel), and yet, here we still are. Trump is a self-serving fool who never thinks beyond how to make the moment he's in benefit him, and using war to distract from the Epstein files is just particularly grotesque. Trusting someone as ignorant of history and foreign culture as Trump is to have any meaningful understanding of a country like Iran is certainly the definition of getting "played."

If Christ is King then believers must…
* honor their parents and elders
* not take what does not belong to them
* honor the life and dignity of all
* love their neighbors
* clothe the naked
* feed the hungry
* care for the elderly
* welcome the stranger
* take care of one another
The true believer doesn’t ask what country you are from, what political beliefs you have, what economic status you hold, or what religion you follow.
Jesus Christ never asked his believers to love some and not others. He did say, “Love one another as I have loved you.”
Do we love others in that same way?

Trump’s war of choice is costing us $11.3 billion in just the first week.
Trump plans to bail out our farmers for $12 billion, fixing a problem he created, and sending $44 billion to Argentina.
Trump is giving $40 billion in subsidies for the dirty fossil-fuel producers who are making billions of dollars.
Under DOGE Musk promised to save us $2 trillion when actual spending rose.
The Pentagon received $2 trillion in 2025 for the most egregious and despicable of all spending $98,329 on a grand piano for the Air Force Chief of Staff.
$9 million was spent on lobster tail and crab legs, $15 million was spent on rib-eye steak just since September 2025. But we don’t have money for food for kids or affordable healthcare? All while Trump and sons increase their wealth by $4 trillion. What happened to the party of fiscal responsibility?
Have we have lost our minds?
“Let them eat lobster.”

There has been more evidence of Donald Trump being a pedophile revealed in the past year than there is evidence of Iran having nuclear weapons capability in the past 30 years.
