A man found dead inside a car at a south side convenience store Sunday afternoon has been identified by Tucson police.
Jerry Lewis, 30, was found in the parking lot of the Circle K store at South Campbell Avenue and East 36th Street just a short time after police responded to a 911 calls about a fight in front of house several blocks away, said Sgt. Matt Ronstadt, a police spokesman.
Officers went to a house in the 2100 block of East Sunland Vista at 11:30 a.m. where they found evidence of a fight and determined that the people involved had left in a car, Ronstadt said.
When officers arrived at the Circle K they found Lewis’ body was found in the trunk of the hatchback car, Ronstadt said.
Lewis had been at the home of his ex-girlfriend Sara Golden and her current boyfriend Scott Mediz, both 31, when the violent confrontation began leaving Lewis unconscious, Ronstadt said. Lewis was bound and placed in the trunk of the hatchback and Mediz drove it to the Circle K and fled, Ronstadt said.
