Pima Community College excelled in a national math competition, placing fourth in the region and outperforming the other six Arizona community colleges that participated.
In all, 17 schools competed in the Southwest region for the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges contest.
The competition consists of two exams at the pre-calculus level. The exams are administered at each competing community college during the fall and spring semesters.
Sean Tiffin was Pima's top overall scorer.
In addition to Tiffin, the college had five students place in the top 20 overall: David Simmons, David Maestas, Raul Mishiyev, Ashley Rix and Tarek Eid.
