Mesa couple arrested for child abuse
MESA, Ariz. — A Mesa couple are in police custody accused of child abuse.
Mesa police arrested 27-year-old Brandy Williams and her boyfriend, 28-year-old Shaun Simpson.
Police say that Williams severely beat her 8-year-old daughter April 16 with a belt because the child was suspended from school.
Mesa authorities say Simpson is accused of throwing the child into a wall.
On Saturday April 19, the victim reported her mother hit her on the head with a hanger and sat on her head. Williams denied hitting the victim with a hangar this past Saturday.
The victim is currently in child protective custody.
Both Williams and Simpson were booked into jail.
