Yesterday’s letter regarding Trump’s Time Magazine interview was another scary reality check. While his plans are alarming, we should all be deeply concerned about his immigration policy of mass deportations and detention camps.
First and foremost, we are a country of immigrants. Trump’s father was an immigrant as were two of his wives. Four of his children are “first generation” citizens—making his policies even more absurd.
He plans to deport 15 to 20 million people and build detention camps to hold undesirables. There is no evidence that these people are the criminals he claims or have responsibility for the rise in crime in the country. He wants to use local police, the national guard, and possibly the military to carry out his plans.
How will this be funded? Will he take money from the Department of Education, the National Institute of Health, or national social service programs—punishing the poor to demonstrate power?

We should all reject these autocratic ideals, before they become a scary reality.
