The Republican controlled Arizona Legislature wanted to make citizen ballot initiatives pass only with a 60% majority. That idea failed. The 10 ballot initiatives initiated by the Republican controlled legislature need only a 50% majority to pass. The Republicans know that none of their 10 items would pass both houses nor a Governor Hobbs veto, so they put them on the ballot. But the seven amendments to Arizona Revised Statues cannot be changed in the future without a 75% approval of both houses of the state legislature. How convenient. Sounds like they are afraid of the people’s vote.
