SaddleBrooke Freethinkers are proud to have Torsten Falk PhD speak on “Two novel approaches for Parkinson’s disease: Ketamine-infusions and drugs from the brain for the brain” on Sunday, November 23. The meeting will be held in the HOA-1 Clubhouse, Vermillion Room with a coffee social at 9:15 a.m. and the program beginning at 9:45 a.m.

Professor Falk will talk about Parkinson’s disease (PD), one of the major degenerative disorders of aging, and the translational work the University of Arizona College of Medical is doing here in town to improve treatments for some of the symptoms of the individuals afflicted with PD.

Dr. Falk has a background in molecular neurobiology, receiving his doctorate at the University of Hamburg in Germany, and in neurophysiology. He is the author of over 40 peer-reviewed journal publications, and over 140 peer-reviewed abstracts and conference presentations. He is a member of the Society for Neuroscience and of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society. He also is co-founder of Teleport Pharmaceuticals, LLC. Dr. Falk is on Grant Review Committees of the Parkinson’s Foundation and the National Institutes of Health (NINDS).

SaddleBrooke Freethinkers provides a forum for the responsible search for truth and meaning in understanding and solving human problems by applying science and reason. We believe that tolerance, compassion, equity and civility should characterize interactions among people and organizations. We strive to achieve these goals through meetings, lectures and discussions.

You can become a member of the SaddleBrooke Freethinkers for $15 per calendar year. This fee includes all lectures and other Freethinkers events like the book club and social events. The lecture program runs from January to April and October to December. Lectures are open to all SaddleBrooke residents and their guests as space is available. Non-members are encouraged to make a $5 donation to defray costs.

Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and/or cash donations for the Tri-Community Food Bank.
