The initial meeting of the Flower and Roses subgroup of the new SaddleBrooke Gardening Club (SBGC) was held the first week of August. The meet and greet format ensured that each attendee could talk about their gardens and the types of related activities that they are interested in.
Nineteen excited members had the opportunity to share information about the flowers and roses growing in their gardens, their successes, their plans, and the challenges that they face. Questions were asked, discussed and interesting ideas were exchanged. Suggestions were also made about events and activities that are scheduled throughout the Tucson and Phoenix area in the upcoming months. Some of these ideas have been posted to the SBGC website under “Upcoming Events.” A little bird from someone’s garden “spilled the beans” that one of the members is an award-winning rose grower. Who would know that award-winning roses can be grown in SaddleBrooke? Down the garden path, members will be able to enjoy the garden tours a field trips that are being planned based on input from this meeting. We are all looking forward to when the weather cools off a bit and we can start to visit each other’s gardens.
The SBGC offers a wide range of capabilities that should appeal to SaddleBrooke gardeners of all types. As additional SaddleBrooke residents return from their summer travels and bring their ideas to the club, we fully expect to see additional capabilities to be added to the club offerings.

Upcoming event dates are listed under the Upcoming Events section of the website. To have your name added to the roster of the new SaddleBrooke Gardening Club, email sbgardeningclubaz@gmail.com. Once you are on the active roster, you will automatically receive all the club news and invitations to club events. Dues for basic membership are $10 a year. Dues paid now include membership privileges through the end of 2025. This new club will reinvigorate your enthusiasm for gardening and will make you a much more successful Arizona gardener.
