The President’s Cup is an annual match-play event and offers competitive play to our ladies with varied handicaps. This year thirty-two ladies qualified to play five 18-hole matches. (Qualification is based on low net scores in a qualifying round). Winners of each match continue in the competition. Mother Nature played this year too, bringing cold weather, frost delays and rain. After the fourth day, four ladies remained in contention for the coveted “President’s Cup” and consolation positions.

Congratulations to our 2026 President’s Cup winner, Ruth Irving!

Congratulations also to Ellen Avenoso, Takeyo Eakin and Marie Kahng who played outstanding golf and were finalists in this event. The organizers for this major tournament were Carol Bidwell and Judy Fick—and, as always, they did a great job and kept everything and everyone on track.

A big thank you to our sponsors who joined us on March 2 for the sponsor fair and luncheon. It was great to meet many of you and learn more about your companies. Your generous contributions are very important to all the women in our League.

As this article goes to print, we are playing in our second major tournament of the year, the Club Championship. Play days are March 10, 12 and 17. Results will be available in the next article. Judy Melo is chairing this event.

The Qual Classic Invitational is set for April 12-14. All the fun begins with a Welcome Party on Sunday followed by play on Monday and Tuesday. Day one will be a shamble format; day two is better ball of the two partners. Maire Ryan and a village of dedicated ladies are busy putting this popular event together.
