Former FC Tucson players Otis Earle, Connor Brandt and Christian Volesky were selected in Thursday’s Major League Soccer draft in Philadelphia.
Earle, a defender was taken in the first round, 15th overall, by FC Dallas. He played six matches with FC Tucson last season.
“He’s an unbelievable physical talent,” FC Tucson coach Rick Schantz said in a phone interview. “He’s super fast, very athletic, good feet. At Dallas, he’ll have a really good chance to take advantage.”
Brandt and Volesky were second-round picks. Brandt, a midfielder who played three seasons with FC Tucson, went to expansion team New York City FC with the 23rd pick and Volesky, a forward who scored five goals in 11 matches in 2014, was the 32nd selection.
“We couldn’t be prouder,”
Schantz said. “I joked … that at this rate we’re only about four years away from having an all-MLS reunion team.”
