The Tucson Chinese Cultural Center will be hosting a day full of delicious food, history, culture and, of course, lots of fun at their Autumn Moon Festival.
On Saturday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the community is invited to stop by the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center at 1288 W. River Rd., for their Autumn Moon Festival which will be celebrating the town’s rich Chinese grocery store history.
Their lineup of events will include author presentations during which attendees can meet authors as well as hear the stories and memories of the families and children behind the Chinese grocery stores that helped shape Tucson’s community.
Yes, there will be lion dance performances too!
You may want to come hungry because the Autumn Moon Festival will also be serving up bites of delicious food inspired by Tucson’s Chinese-Mexican history. You can expect to see dishes like Chinese chorizo, menudo, beef tamales, tacos dorados, saladitos and rice congee at the event.
If you’re looking to add some new recipes and cooking techniques to your life, you’ll want to reserve a spot for their cooking class. This special, hands-on class will teach participants how to make Suzhou-style mooncakes and northern-style sweet and spicy pork.
There are limited spots available for the cooking class, which costs $60 for non-members, $50 for TCCC members and $40 for children under 12 with a paid adult. To reserve your spot, you’ll want to RSVP on their website.
