Two weeks
after two franchised Jason’s Deli restaurants in Tucson closed
suddenly amid financial woes, the location on North Oracle Road
will reopen Monday as a company-owned location with rehired former
employees.
The
Beaumont, Texas-based chain also plans to renovate the other
location on East Broadway Road — the company’s first franchised
restaurant when it opened in 1988 — and reopen that site this fall,
said Daniel Helfman, public relations director
for
Jason's Deli, whose corporate name
is
Deli Management
Inc.

The
company planned to announce the reopenings at a press conference at
the 4545 N. Oracle Road location this morning.
The
company plans to hire as many of the 85 former local Jason’s Deli
employees as possible, Helfman said.
The
former franchise owner, Delwest Inc., closed both
locations suddenly on May 30 amid financial problems including
nearly $1.2 million in federal tax liens for unpaid employment
taxes.
