Tucson's Beyond Bread will compete for the world's best sandwich at the sandwich portion of the World Food Championships in Las Vegas next month.
Foodie and TV host Adam Richman is hosting the contest, which looks for the best burger, sandwich, chili, side dish, barbecue and recipe, on Nov. 3 at Ballys Drive.
Beyond Bread will compete for $25,000 in prize money. First place takes home $10,000.
Beyond Bread is up against San Diego's Devine Pastabilities, San Francisco's Ike's Place, Orlando's That Deli and a handful of independent chefs.
Beyond Bread, which has been around since 1998, got into the contest after being named to Tucson Weekly's Best of Tucson 2011. Contestants qualify by winning local competitions, according to the contest rules.

The sandwich shop has three Tucson locations: 421 W. Ina Road; 3026 N. Campbell Ave.; and 6260 E. Speedway.
