A former Border Patrol agent was sentenced to 71 months in prison by a federal judge for distributing and possessing child pornography.
Tucson resident Nicholas Peter Berner, 39, worked as a Border Patrol agent before he was indicted, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release Friday. Berner pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge James A. Soto.
Berner also was sentenced to a lifetime term of supervised release and must register as a sex offender.
