ROMULUS, Mich. — Officials say a German Shepherd that formerly worked as a bomb-sniffing dog in Washington, D.C., has escaped after arriving in the Detroit area via airplane.
The dog named Arco ran away in Romulus after arriving Monday night on a cargo flight to Detroit Metropolitan Airport from Tucson, and being let out of a crate to go to the bathroom, WWJ-AM reports.
The dog was making the trip to Michigan to a new home, Nadine Karsevar, who runs an organization that rehabilitates dogs, says. She was monitoring the search from Arizona and says Arco is 6 years old.
The Detroit News reports police in the Detroit suburb searched Tuesday for the dog.
