Top 50 nurses honored May 12
Each year, the American Nurses Association sets aside one week to recognize and celebrate the gift nurses provide communities across the country. This year, Nurses Week is May 6-12.
Since 1994, Tucson nurses have celebrated with a citywide event in which 50 nurses are honored as the Fabulous 50 nurses in the area. The nurses will be honored May 12 at the 13th Annual Fabulous 50 dinner-dance to be held at the Hilton El Conquistador Resort & Country Club, 10000 N. Oracle Road.
The Fabulous 50 nurses were chosen from among hundreds of nominees for their role modeling and mentoring of others, concern for humanity, contributions to the community and significant contributions to nursing.

Crossing-light study coming
The Dodge/Flower and Oak Flower neighbors are concerned about the safety of pedestrians crossing at Flower Street and Alvernon Way.
At the request of both neighborhood associations, the city's Department of Transportation will conduct a study to assess the need for a HAWK crossing light at the Flower and Alvernon intersection.
The HAWK is a red light that flashes when traffic should stop for pedestrians.
