Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer appointed D. Douglas Metcalf to the Pima County Superior Court bench.
Metcalf will fill an open slot on the civil bench. He has been a partner with the law firm Lewis Roca Rothgerber since 2000. No date has been set for his swearing in.
“Doug’s extensive and diverse professional background — whether through his experience at the United States Department of Justice or in private practice — will add a unique and valuable perspective to the bench,” Brewer said Wednesday in a news release.
Before his time with Lewis and Roca, Metcalf worked for the firm Brown & Bain, as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, and as a law clerk in U.S. Tax Court.
Metcalf earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Iowa in 1985, graduated from Drake University Law School in 1987 and earned a master of laws in taxation from Georgetown University in 1991.
