Southwest Gas Co. crews were expected to complete repairs over night on a gas leak at South Park Avenue and East Irvington Road.
The road remained restricted Friday night, but travel in the area was predicted to return to normal by early Saturday morning, said Stephen Miller, a Southwest Gas spokesman based in Las Vegas.
Traffic in the area was no longer backed up by 11 p.m. Friday.
At 2:45 p.m. the intersection was restricted, said a Tucson Police Department official.
A Southwest Gas technician, who was in the area fixing another leak, conducted a survey and found the leak at the intersection, Miller said.
The leak was discovered about 2 p.m., and the company was conducting an investigation into the incident, Miller said. He said it was not known when or why the leak occurred.Â
