Suspect identified in assault on cop, dog
Tucson police have obtained an arrest warrant for a man suspected of assaulting a University of Arizona police officer and his service dog last week.
Jeremiah Thomas, 23, is accused of injuring the officer and his dog May 28 when the officer tried to detain him at a midtown business, according to a Tucson Police Department press release.
The officer was investigating a separate incident at the business, in the 2000 block of East Broadway, when the man walked in with a box, police said. The business handles the shipping of packages.
The dog alerted the officer to the box, prompting the officer to stop the man.
